Dr Sourima Biswas Shivhare

Association of Clinical Embryologists (ACE) Rising Star Award (FERTILITY 2020, UK) 

Dr Sourima Biswas Shivhare, one of our graduates, was awarded the Association of Clinical Embryologists (ACE) Rising Star Award for ‘showing exceptional promise in the field of clinical embryology and working with dedication and care’.

Sourima, graduated from her undergraduate degree in Human Genetics in June 2008. She joined the MSc in Clinical Embryology in October 2010. Sourima was awarded the prize for the ‘Best Research Laboratory Project/Dissertation’ in September 2011 for her 13 week research project which she undertook with collaborators at Cambridge University. Sourima graduated from the course with a distinction.

After completing the MSc in Clinical Embryology, Sourima went on to complete her PhD in Reproductive & Vascular Biology at the University of Newcastle. After completing her PhD Sourima commenced the NHS STP training scheme to become a Clinical Embryologist. Sourima has now completed the STP programme as is working as a Clinical Embryologist at Simply Fertility.

The award

Sourima, was awarded the Association of Clinical Embryologists (ACE) Rising Star Award for ‘showing exceptional promise in the field of clinical embryology and working with dedication and care’.

Following this award, Sourima highlighted the importance of the Oxford MSc in Clinical Embryology, and how it played a key role shaping her career ‘‘The MSc in Clinical Embryology at Oxford nurtured in me the fundamentals of being a clinical embryologist; knowledge, experience, enthusiasm and most importantly the farsightedness to make a difference in the field.”
