MSc in Clinical Embryology
Welcome to the home page of the MSc in Clinical Embryology at the University of Oxford. This one-year, residential-taught Masters course aims to provide graduates from either a scientific or clinical background with advanced theoretical and practical understanding of human reproductive biology, embryology, infertility and assisted reproductive technology (ART).
We place significant emphasis on providing ‘hands-on’ practical training in a range of laboratory techniques associated with scientific research, clinical diagnosis, or ART, including vitrification, comparative array hybridisation, gamete micromanipulation and infra-red laser biopsy.
Global Careers in Reproductive Medicine and Research
Our graduates have secured a wide range of exciting opportunities around the world. Many are now pursuing higher research degrees (e.g., PhD/DPhil) and advancing their academic or research careers. Others have secured positions as embryologists or have joined global fertility companies. Several graduates have also begun medical school, either in the UK or abroad. In many cases, our students had already qualified as physicians before coming to Oxford, using our course as a pathway to specialise in fertility medicine.
The MSc programme is based at the Institute of Reproductive Sciences at the Oxford Business Park, offering dedicated, state-of-the-art teaching and research facilities.
Both the course and our teaching staff have received a number of prestigious teaching excellence awards.
