Menopause Workplace Pledge

We are pleased to share that the Nuffield Department of Women's & Reproductive Health has signed the Menopause Workplace Pledge. This is a new campaign by Wellbeing of Women that calls on organisations to commit to recognising that the menopause is a workplace issue, and that women need support, as well as talking respectfully and openly about the menopause, and actively supporting and informing colleagues.

ChatGPT can generate text that sounds remarkably human—so much so that humans cannot discern between text written by ChatGPT and that produced by humans. People worldwide use it for tasks ranging from managing finances to writing poetry, often with impressive results. Recently, however, its use in providing medical advice has raised significant concerns.

The winners of the Postgrad Awards 2022 have been announced and we are delighted to share that our DPhil student Josephine Agyeman-Duah has won PhD Student of the Year. The award recognises the individual PhD student who has become an excellent and inquisitive researcher, who is an integral part of their research group, someone who encourages and supports more junior members of the team, and works alongside the research community more widely.

Engaging schools with STEM - Bronze Employer Award

Multi-centre collaboration awarded NIH grant funding for endometriosis study

Funding for a five-year, $3 million multi-centre collaborative study into the causes of endometriosis has been awarded by the US National Institutes of Health to Oxford Professors Krina Zondervan and Christian Becker, Directors of the Oxford Endometriosis CaRe Centre.

Building on the successful launch of Version 1, which integrated the INTERGROWTH-21st Newborn Size at Birth and Preterm Postnatal Growth Standards, Version 2 now incorporates additional tools to support clinicians across the full continuum of pregnancy and early life.
Latest National Maternity Survey finds 3 in 10 new mothers in England report common postnatal mental health problems

Our latest national maternity survey, You & Your Baby 2024, provides a picture of the mental health and maternity care experiences of women who gave birth in England in May 2024. We heard from 3,728 women from across the country - 3 in 10 were from minority ethnic groups, 3 in 10 were born outside the UK, and 2 in 10 lived in the most disadvantaged areas. By hearing from thousands of women from a wide range of backgrounds, the survey paints a clear picture of mental health around childbirth and experiences of maternity care across England.
