About the symposium
The symposium promises rich discussions, collaboration opportunities, and the chance to shape the future of maternal mental health in Africa. The event will feature speakers with real-world experience and expertise in the field from the African continent. The format will be conversational, with an emphasis on engaging discussions and debate.
Three key themes
The Symposium will cover talks and conversations around three themes:
1. Moving from Trial to Scale in Maternal Mental Health
- What strategies can be implemented?
- Success stories in scaling up maternal mental health interventions for impactful outcomes.
- What impedes scale up, causes ‘voltage drop’?
- What should be done to address these problems?
2. Working with Social Determinants in Maternal Mental Health
- The intersectionality of social determinants and maternal mental health.
- Effective approaches to address these complex challenges.
3. When the Research Ends: Sustaining Capacity in Maternal Mental Health:
- Insights and practices on sustaining capacity beyond research projects, ensuring continued support for maternal mental health initiatives.
- Consider capacity in terms of research personnel as well as implementation.
