Congratulations to MSc student, Heidi Long and the Oxford Women’s Team on their victory in the 2026 Oxford vs Cambridge Boat Race.

A long-awaited victory - first win since 2016

The Oxford Women's team secured their first Boat Race win since 2016, delivering a composed and determined performance in challenging conditions on the River Thames. The team crossed the finish line 9.4 seconds ahead, marking a significant and hard-fought achievement.

Olympic Bronze Medallist, Heidi Long described winning as “incredible”, adding that she felt “so happy and proud” to be part of the winning crew. Alongside her sporting achievments, Heidi is currently undertaking an MSc under the supervision of Professor Suzannah Williams. Her research focuses on oocytes and ovarian biology, alongside a new project exploring the impact of ultra-processed foods.

Congratulations once again to Heidi and the team.
