Shubham Narwal

Dr. Shubham Narwal is a DPhil student in the Nuffield Department of Women’s & Reproductive Health at the University of Oxford and a 2025 Rhodes Scholar. Supervised by Prof. Suzannah Williams with co-supervision from Dr. Antonia Weberling, his research focuses on developing advanced in-vitro follicle culture systems to support the reproductive conservation of the Northern White Rhinoceros. 

Dr. Narwal’s scientific trajectory is grounded in his veterinary education at the ICAR–Indian Veterinary Research Institute, where he trained extensively in both clinical and laboratory aspects of reproductive biology. He holds a professional veterinary license in India and received advanced hands-on training in in-vitro embryo production (IVEP), somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT), and reproductive biotechnology techniques used in large ruminants.

He brings expertise in assisted reproductive technologies, wildlife health, and comparative reproductive biology. His work integrates reproductive science, conservation medicine, and translational approaches aimed at improving fertility preservation and safeguarding biodiversity.
