Tom Ibbotson

MA (Oxon), ACG, CIMA Cert BA

Information Governance Manager

I advise and lead on departmental policies and procedures relating to Information Governance and security. I am part of the professional services team and report to Lesa Levett, Head of Administration and Finance.

Please contact me if you have any data privacy questions, such as relating to Data Management Plans (DMP), Ethics applications, Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA) or Third Party Security Assessments (TPSA). I am able to help liaise with other relevant colleagues such as the Information Compliance Team, the Information Security team and Research Services. I also act as the main point of contract in the department for Export Control, particularly with reference to research collaboration.

When I am in the office I will usually sit in the HR office and will normally be on site on Mondays and Fridays and work from home on other days. Do feel free to contact me by phone or MS Teams as well as email.

I read music at St Peter’s College in Oxford and then trained as a Chartered Governance Professional while working for a small TV production company. In the University I have focused on finance administration roles up to this point and I am partway through the CIMA professional qualification in management accountancy. I have worked in the department since 2012 and have been part of the professional services team through many changes.

Outside of work I sing in choirs and volunteer with the Oxford Winter Night Shelter. I love to spend time with my family making music, walking and cooking – I have two children, one at university in the southwest and the other in secondary school.
