Skye Clarkson
BSc
DPhil Student
Skye is a DPhil student supervised by Dr Manu Vatish, Dr Wei Zhang, Dr Neva Kandzija, and Dr Anastasios Malakasis. Her research focuses on novel diagnostic approaches to gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). She hopes for her research to improve early detection and diagnosis of GDM through less invasive approaches than the current oral glucose tolerance test.
Prior to starting her DPhil, Skye earned a BSc in Health Sciences from the University of Waterloo in Canada. Here her research focused on patient and provider satisfaction with prenatal care with a common goal of improving maternal and fetal health.
Skye is passionate about the intersection between biomedical and public health sciences, believing in translational research and the importance of policy and practice being guided by both disciplines. She welcomes discussions from anyone who has further questions about her research and potential collaborations.
