Magdalena Bachmann

DPhil Student

I am a DPhil Candidate at the University of Oxford, building on a background in biological sciences and health research. I completed my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Food Science at ETH Zurich, Switzerland, where I developed a strong interest in research related to human health. I have worked in breastfeeding science at the Family Larsson-Rosenquist Foundation and conducted wet lab research at the Oxford Centre for the Endocrinology of Human Lactation, exploring the biological mechanisms underlying human lactation.

My current research, supervised by Dr Anita Makins, Professor Manisha Nair and Dr Rachel Reid-McCann, examines the effects of exogenous reproductive hormones on lactation and breastfeeding behaviours. Alongside this work, I have an interest in data science and artificial intelligence, particularly their potential applications in reproductive healthcare. I explore how computational tools can complement traditional approaches to improving health outcomes and addressing complex challenges in maternal and child health.
