Biography

Katherine Dibbon is a 2024 Rhodes Scholar and DPhil student in the Vatish lab, under the supervision of Prof. Manu Vatish, Dr. Wei Zhang, Dr. Pallavi Kshetrapal (THSTI, India), Prof. Aris Papageorghiou and Prof. Jane Hirst. Her research looks at the impact of extreme heat exposure on maternal-fetal health as a part of the “Heat in Pregnancy – India” global collaboration.

Katherine holds a B.A. in Political Science and a B.Sc. (Hons) in Chemistry (Biological) from Memorial University of Newfoundland in Canada. Here, she was awarded the Chancellor’s Undergraduate Award which recognizes the student with the greatest contribution to student life. Katherine is a Fulbright-Killam Fellow (University of Washington) and an Amgen Scholar (University of Toronto) with a keen interest in national and global relations. She served on the UN Women’s Generation Equality Youth Task Force as the Canadian representative and was recognized as a World Vision International Changemaker and awarded the Heroes for Children Courage award for her work advancing child labour legislation in Canada.

Katherine’s research interests lie in in the intersection of climate change and maternal-fetal health, recognizing the urgent need in the face of the climate emergency.
