Research Assistant
I joined the Nuffield Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2010 and I had been working as a Research Technician for the Oxford Safer Pregnancy Alliance team (OSPREA) for 4 years.
From 2014 I have been appointed to the post of the Research Midwifery Care Assistant for the Oxford Safer Pregnancy Alliance (OSPREA).
Part of my current role is supporting the research teams in the care of study participants. I work closely with the doctors, scientists, research midwives and technicians and I have an active role in supporting the recruitment process for volunteers for the clinical studies that are within the auspices of OSPREA.
I am responsible for completing research documentation for women recruited to a number of obstetric studies, assisting the research teams in the completion of study paperwork and in maintaining the Trial Master Files for the clinical studies. Moreover I am taking clinical observations and performing phlebotomy and other clinical requirements as required.
Part of my role is collecting and processing samples when necessary and working with the Research Technicians in retrieving frozen samples and arranging their dispatch to other laboratories within the UK and overseas.
