Bryony Davies

DPhil Student

I am a DPhil student in the Oxford Centre for the Endocrinology of Human Lactation (OCEHL). My project looks at lactation onset in women with small, vulnerable newborns, with a particular focus on hormonal control of lactation. By understanding differences in early lactation in women with preterm, small-for-gestational age and low birthweight infants, we can hopefully find ways to better support affected mothers and infants.

Previously, I studied Biomedical Sciences at the University of Oxford, completing my BA in 2022. Following this, I completed a research-based Master's in Women's and Reproductive Health under Prof. Manu Vatish's supervision. This project was focused on placenta-derived exosomes and their quantification in maternal tissues. I spent one year as a research assistant in OCEHL, where I assisted with INSIGHT sample processing, cell-based studies and data analysis.
