Ava
Why did you choose to do a DPhil/MSc by Research in the Nuffield Department Women’s and Reproductive Health?
I decided to apply to the DPhil in Women’s & Reproductive Health programme while completing the MSc in Clinical Embryology course. I was inspired by working in the laboratory environment, engaging in discussions with top academics/ researchers in the field, and my research project experience under the supervision of Prof. Suzannah Williams (my current DPhil supervisor).
What do you find most interesting?
My research primarily focuses on female fertility preservation and follicle development. I find this field so interesting because it is on the cutting-edge and constantly evolving in response to an ever-growing body of novel scientific research.
What are your post-DPhil/MSc by Research plans?
Following my DPhil, I aim to continue working in academia as a postdoctoral researcher and lecturer.

Why did you choose to do a DPhil/MSc by Research in the Nuffield Department Women’s and Reproductive Health?
The NDWRH provides the opportunity to work with experts in my field of interest and access to world class facilities that allows me to investigate my unique research question.
What do you find most interesting?
Interacting with such a diverse range of highly knowledgeable academics who have come to Oxford from all over the world.
What are your post-DPhil/MSc by Research plans?
To return to South Africa and take home the skills I gained at Oxford to improve the local research landscape.

Why did you choose to do a DPhil/MSc by Research in the Nuffield Department Women’s and Reproductive Health?
I chose a DPhil by research in the NDWRH because of the excellent standard and practice of research ongoing there, as well as the chance to collaborate with and learn from leading researchers within the field of reproductive health.
What do you find most interesting?
I find the diverse nature of the research being performed by each group to be very interesting, and very beneficial to allow for broad scopes of research to be performed within the department.
What are your post-DPhil/MSc by Research plans?
Pursue a career in academia.

Why did you choose to do a DPhil/MSc by Research in the Nuffield Department Women’s and Reproductive Health?
I was initially drawn to Oxford because of its reputation, and to the NDWRH specifically because I enjoyed studying reproductive science in my undergraduate degree. I was excited by the prospect of being able to combine scientific, clinical and industrial methods of research to my chosen research project, which I have been able to do to through the opportunities available to me as part of the NDWRH.
What do you find most interesting?
The huge variability in the research conducted within the department! Everyone is doing something unique.
What are your post-DPhil/MSc by Research plans?
My DPhil is in partnership with a biotech company, so I hope to keep working with them post-DPhil or with another biotech company on research and development.
