Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death in the world. The work of this research group integrates large databases of electronic health records, clinical trials, meta-analyses and digital technologies to better understand the determinants and consequences of cardiovascular disease, and how to improve quality of care and health outcomes.

The research focus is on major cardiometabolic risk factors and conditions such as atrial fibrillation, diabetes, heart failure, high blood pressure (hypertension), ischemic heart disease, valvular heart disease, stroke, and vascular dementia, which significantly impact morbidity and mortality, and, when combined, have major implications at individual and population levels.
