Differentiating between placenta accreta spectrum (PAS) and urinary bladder varices can be difficult on prenatal US because the 2 conditions have similar appearances. It is important to distinguish between the 2 before birth, however, because each requires a different treatment. In this opinion piece, the authors outline how they make the diagnosis and note that a definitive diagnosis can be made only during surgery.
