In October 2022, the WRH Communications & Public Engagement Team commenced an extensive project and branding review. Working alongside an external, creative design agency, Peloton Ltd, the aim of developing a new logo and brand identity for our department.
As part of the process, a comprehensive visual identity audit of Women’s Health competitors and other departments across the University took place. This involved colour palette exploration and a stakeholder group review.
The new logo was then voted for by department members in June 2023.
ENCAPSULATING OUR PURPOSE
Our core purpose is to advance women’s and reproductive health through research and teaching, and to improve the quality and delivery of women's healthcare across the globe.
The challenge was to create a professional, memorable, unique logo to embody our broad range of Women’s & Reproductive research in an abstract illustrative style. The brand and logo also needed to convey our department values of Innovation, Integrity, Collaboration, Excellence and Visionary.
The new logo has a seasonal colour palette to represent the department’s four research themes (Cancer, Global Health, Maternal and Fetal Health and Reproductive Medicine and Genetics).
The design's four main components represent the overarching research themes listed above and the shapes also have connotations of 'organic' 'collaboration' and 'innovation'.
We feel this is a fresh, modern and abstract design which embodies our brand and really stands out from the crowd.
We are in the process of embedding our new logo across all of our communication platforms and are really excited to officially share our new look.
