Huge congratulations to Prof Aris Papageorghiou who launched an exciting new initiative called scan.academy during the COVID-19 lockdown. There are few educational opportunities to “meet online” so scan.academy has met this need and enabled clinicians to have interactive discussions on the latest developments in obstetric ultrasound.
Run by expert volunteers, scan.academy broadcasts free webinars and users receive a certificate of attendance. A committed and engaged online community has grown rapidly: Aris commented:

“This started as a lockdown hobby with some friends talking ultrasound. We invited others to join and now regularly have 3000-5000 attendees from all over the world; our record is 6000!” On 28th November we had a re-broadcast of a cardiac webinar with translation to Spanish and Portuguese. 4741 registered delegates says it all, with over 400 from Brazil on the Portuguese channel (see list below). The most recent webinar on 13th December focused on Skeletal Dysplasias, and attracted over 3000 registrations”. |
