Professor Ahmed is seen here receiving an award for `International Scientist of the Year' from the United Arab Emirates Genetics Diseases Association (UAEGDA). The award was presented by His Royal Highness Sheikh Nahyan Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Youth and Culture.

Professor Ahmed Ahmed MBBCH, MSc, MD, MRCOG, PhD, Professor of Gynaecological Oncology, Consultant Gynaecological Oncology Surgeon and Director of the Ovarian Cancer Cell Laboratory at the Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine has received an award for `International Scientist of the Year' from the United Arab Emirates Genetics Diseases Association (UAEGDA).

The award is to recognise his group's recently published work on genomics, screening and metastasis of ovarian cancer. Specifically, the identification of a potential marker for early diagnosis of ovarian cancer (SOX2) and a target for therapy (SIK2) that drives ovarian cancer metastasis to the abdominal cavity.
