The INTERGROWTH-21st Project has released Version 2 of its clinical growth standards app, significantly expanding its functionality to include fetal growth standards, enhanced data export options, and in-app multilingual capability. Building on the successful launch of Version 1, which integrated the INTERGROWTH-21st Newborn Size at Birth and Preterm Postnatal Growth Standards, Version 2 now incorporates additional tools to support clinicians across the full continuum of pregnancy and early life.

What’s New in Version 2

Expanded clinical charts:

  • Symphysis–fundal height standards
  • Fetal growth standards: femur length, head circumference, abdominal circumference, bi-parietal diameter, occipito-frontal diameter
  • Estimated Fetal Weight (EFW) standards

These additions allow healthcare professionals to assess and monitor fetal growth during pregnancy, complementing the existing newborn and preterm postnatal growth standards within a single integrated platform.

Enhanced export functionality:

  • Charts can now be downloaded in PDF and Excel formats, enabling easier integration into electronic health records, audit systems, research databases, and patient files.

Multilingual in-app translation:

  • The app now includes an integrated translation facility in French, Spanish, Portuguese (European and Brazilian)

This development supports wider international implementation and improves accessibility for clinicians working in diverse linguistic settings.

Supporting Care from Early Pregnancy to Postnatal Follow-up

The INTERGROWTH-21st standards are international prescriptive standards describing optimal fetal and newborn growth across populations worldwide. By incorporating fetal biometry, estimated fetal weight, newborn size at birth (from 24 weeks’ gestation), and preterm postnatal growth up to 64 weeks postmenstrual age, where the charts merge with the WHO Child Growth Standards, the app now enables continuous monitoring from pregnancy through early infancy.

The updated app provides:

  • Integrated assessment across gestational ages
  • Longitudinal patient tracking
  • Standardised centile plotting
  • Downloadable outputs for clinical documentation and research

By placing internationally validated standards into a user-friendly digital format, Version 2 strengthens clinical decision-making, audit, implementation, and research worldwide.
