The University of Oxford has received funding to establish a new Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in AI Fundamentals. The CDT will focus on foundational AI developments that have the potential to impact four humane themes: health and medical science, food security and agriculture, climate change and clean energy, and government innovation.
The programme will provide students with training in both cutting-edge AI research methodologies and the development of professional and transferable skills, resulting in a challenging research project leading to a DPhil. Key topics will include AI fundamentals, computational statistics, and machine learning.
As part of Christopher Yau's Co-Director role, he will help develop and deliver the training programme. The training will span the breadth of foundational AI. Chris will ensure that it is relevant, focused, and meets the needs of the students in Oxford and EIT Oxford.
