Tim Child has been a member of the NDWRH since 2004 and is Associate Professor of Reproductive Medicine and Gynaecology. In 2021 he was appointed by the Secretary of State for Health to the Board of the HFEA, the UK’s regulator of fertility treatment and embryo research. He also Chair’s the HFEA’s largest committee, the Scientific and Clinical Advances Advisory Committee (SCAAC) and sits on SAC (acronyms!) which licenses preimplantation genetic testing for inherited single gene and mitochondrial disease. In this lecture Tim will explain the role of the HFEA in regulating the sector, discuss the IVF Add-Ons rating system, and explore regulatory challenges including In-Vitro derived Gametes, Embryo Models, and clinical care in the digital age.
The seminar will be held in the Anne Anderson Lecture Theatre, Level 3, Women’s Centre. Pizza will be provided!
