Kirralise Hansford
Postdoctoral Researcher
I am a postdoctoral researcher in the Pain in Women group and I am currently working on the PrePOSE study, which aims to Predict the Pain Outcome of Surgery for Endometriosis. I am also running another study looking into autistic people's experiences of period pain and period pain treatments.
I am interested in investigating how the body and brain perceive chronic pain, and the intersection between chronic pain and neurodivergent conditions.
I completed a PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience and Neuroimaging at the University of York in 2024. My thesis investigated non-pharmaceutical treatment methods for chronic hand-based pain and was awarded the K.M. Stott Thesis Prize for the best thesis in the departmental PhD cohort. I completed my MSc in Neuroimaging Methods and Applications at Cardiff University (2021), and my BSc (Hons) in Psychology at the University of Plymouth (2019).
Throughout my academic career I have engaged with several open science initiatives and roles, and I am currently Deputy Champion of the Open Science Ambassadors at the Oxford Centre for Integrative Neuroimaging (OxCIN).
