Research Assistant

After working as a healthcare assistant in obstetrics and gynaecology, I joined the Nuffield Department of Women's and Reproductive Health in 2018 as a research assistant for the Oxford Safer pregnancy Alliance (OSPREA).

I work closely with a range of staff including doctors, midwives, scientists and technicians; supporting the research teams in the care of study participants. I have an active role in the recruitment of volunteers to the clinical studies conducted by OSPREA, and I assist in their participation by collecting samples, taking clinical observations and performing phlebotomy, among other requirements.

I am responsible for helping to complete research documentation for women recruited to a number of obstetric and gynaecological studies, and assisting the teams in maintaining the data and records of these studies. A key part of my role is the processing of samples in the laboratory, and supporting the research technicians in the dispatch of frozen samples to other laboratories with the UK and overseas.
