\n \n \n \nExciting advancements in the early detection of endometriosis have been unveiled by Serac Healthcare Limited and the Nuffield Department of Women\u2019s and Reproductive Health at the University of Oxford. Preliminary data from the \u201cDetecting Endometriosis expressed integrins using technetium-99m\u201d (DETECT) imaging study suggest a new imaging agent, 99mTc-maraciclatide, could revolutionize the diagnosis of this debilitating condition.

\n \n \n \nThe 15th World Congress on Endometriosis kicks off in Edinburgh from 3rd to 6th May 2023. The Congress brings together scientists, clinicians, health professionals and patients to collaborate on the biologic and sociologic understanding of endometriosis, with the ultimate goal to improve clinical care. Expectations are high, with 1100 attendees from 50 countries, presenting nearly 600 original research papers. Experts from our dept's Oxford EndoCaRe research group will be chairing talks, giving oral presentations, sharing posters, networking and more!

\n \n \n \nVaricose veins are a very common manifestation of chronic venous disease, affecting over 30% of the population in Western countries. In America, chronic venous disease affects over 11 million men and 22 million women aged 40\u201380 years old. Left untreated it can escalate to multiple health complications including leg ulcers and ultimately amputations. A new international study by Oxford researchers published on 2nd June 2022 in Nature Communications establishes for the first time, a critical genetic risk score to predict the likelihood of patients suffering with Varicose veins to require surgery, as well as pointing the way towards potential new therapies.
